You will allow me ask some simple questions which I know you have no answers.
Firstly, I would like to know companies in Nigeria that force people to apply for employment with them?
Secondly, I would also like to know who if anyone has been forced to apply for employment in any company?
I have tried to scan through my over fifteen appointment letters and could not find anywhere provision was made for Resignation, rather Termination.
My next question, where did Resignation of appointment come from?
The next corollary question is why would any employer reject Resignation and any employer come up with the term Wrong Termination?
Finally, Could an employee reject Termination or on the other hand could the employer reject Resignation?
For the purpose of discussion, should the employer term his Termination as WRONGFUL, where would he work and who will pay him?
Should the employer reject the employee's Resignation, how does the employer make the employer to report for duty?
As I said from the beginning, the questions though simple, but answers will not be forthcoming, so, my conclusion is stated hereunder.
Those two terms are some of the Major failures of HR Practice. You cannot reject a resignation, all you can do is appeal for reasons to continue with the employment. On the on other hand you cannot term termination a wrongful and continue to work for free for the employer.
Finally, When an employee resigns, accept the resignation and wish him well in all his future endeavours, and when an employer terminates, it is not the end of life. The main reason is that you cannot impose an unwilling employer on a willing employer and conversely you cannot impose willing employer on an unwilling employer. This is because as the Economist Adam Smith puts it, " On the long, long run, we should have all died"
