 I have a first degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the best university then in that discipline in Nigeria, the University of Benin, Benin City. During my undergraduate days, I decided not to earn naira on graduation, so when my course mates were rushing to major in Organizational Behaviour, I opted for Medical Sociology. I equally decided to go on to obtain a Masters Degree in Epidemiology so as to ensure that I work with either WHO or UNICEF where I would be paid in dollars. However, my university of choice was then being shut every other three months. This was against another decision of yours truly that I shall not spend more than 12 months for the masters program.  I overruled a General Manager of one of our Profit Centres by confirming the appointment of the PC Personnel/Administration Manager whom the GM already decided to extend his probation period by three months without any justifications. The real problem was that the PAM terminated the employment of the Vice Chairman of the Branch Union who was caught stealing company's products.  I ordered the termination of the thief because the GM was considering forgiveness under serious pressure from two of his key managers who hailed from the same town with the thief. When I sent the PAM's final probation report to the GM, after delaying the return of the report to my office for five weeks, later sent it me without a definite recommendation. I sent the report back to him demanding a definite recommendation and instead of a positive response he went to report to my boss that I said he does not understand the English language, himself an English man.  My refusal to accept two direct instructions from two gentlemen who were instrumental to my employment in two companies where I enjoyed working, cost yours truly those jobs because I considered those instructions as unreasonable. Firstly, I was asked to provide information that would lead to the termination of the employment of five high performing managers. My response was to send my boss a local ICBM to the effect that "a man who circumcises woman do not talk". If the man talks, he will die of hunger. Secondly, I was asked to tell half truths by my boss, which I considered to be telling lies and I refused. My boss explained further to yours truly, that what he was saying was for yours truly to play politics because politics is about half truths.  Companies whose employees steal is caused by these companies by pursuing anti-people policies. Today I share with you my experiences in three companies I worked and be the judge whether employees stealing is companies engineered or not. Firstly, There was the company I worked where drivers used 90 liters of fuel to cover about 400 kilometers, while your truly covered a distance of 450 kilometers with less than 45 liters with a car of the same engine capacity. When I introduced people centric policies, yours truly position was declared redundant with the claim that those policies were more expensive to the company than the stealing that was taking place. Secondly, In another company, the management made contributory pension deductions from staff salaries but failed to remit same to any Pension Fund Administrator.
